Candidate from Kazakhstan in the UN Committee: Promotion of Gender Equality

The Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan to the United Nations Office in Geneva hosted the presentation of our country's candidate Madina Jarbussynova to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women, DKNews.kz reports.

Speaking to the delegations of the countries participating in the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, Jarbussynova shared Kazakhstan's experience in promoting and protecting the rights of women and girls both at the national and global levels. Progressive initiatives of our country and their implementation on regional platforms were also noted.

In addition, Jarbussynova was an honorary speaker at the side-event “Istanbul Convention in Practice. Comprehensive support for victims of sexualized violence”, jointly organized by the Permanent Missions of Belgium and Kazakhstan, as well as the Council of Europe.

Kazakhstan speaker informed about the ongoing work of the country in the context of possible accession to the Istanbul Convention. During the discussion, she noted the positive measures taken by Kazakhstan to protect the rights of women and girls, as well as further priorities in this direction.
