A branch of one of China's leading technical universities, the Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU), has opened at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU). This branch offers a unique opportunity for Kazakh students to receive world-class education in key technical specialties that are in high demand in the global job market, DKnews.kz reports.

The opening of the NPU branch in Kazakhstan became possible due to an agreement signed in May 2023 during the state visit of Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to China. This event marks a new stage in strengthening Kazakhstan-China cooperation in the field of education and science. NPU is ranked among the top 200 universities in the world and holds leading positions in international rankings, underscoring its high reputation and authority in the global educational community.

Students at the branch are offered education in such highly sought-after fields as "Electronics and Communication Technologies," "Materials Science and Engineering," and "Computer Science and Technology." The master's program involves studying for the first year in Kazakhstan and the second year in China, allowing students to earn not only a KazNU diploma but also a prestigious NPU diploma. This educational experience opens wide opportunities for graduates to find employment in major Chinese companies like Huawei and ZTE, which are actively expanding their business in Kazakhstan.

The NPU branch at KazNU also provides students with access to advanced Chinese technologies and scientific achievements. A "5G/5.5G Communication Technologies" laboratory has been opened at the branch, where students can learn the latest telecommunications technologies and prepare for the introduction of 6G networks. Additionally, an agreement was signed in July 2023 between KazNU and NPU for joint microsatellite scientific research, opening new horizons for space exploration and the training of international-level specialists.

To enter the master's program, candidates must pass a comprehensive test (CT). Holders of state grants are automatically admitted, while candidates who score over 75 points can undergo an interview to gain admission. Additional scholarships are provided for branch students, making education even more accessible.

The NPU branch at KazNU is not just an educational platform but also an important step towards strengthening educational and scientific cooperation between Kazakhstan and China. This project reflects Kazakhstan's aspiration to integrate into the global scientific community and its readiness to adopt China's advanced experience in the field of technology and education.
