Kazakhstan strengthens ties with European countries

Kazakhstan’s Cooperation with European Countries Advances, DKnews.kz reports

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Roman Vassilenko held working meetings with Ambassadors of Slovakia, the United Kingdom and France to discuss relevant issues of cooperation.

Current political and economic issues, as well as prospects for cooperation in various sectors were discussed at the meeting with Slovak Ambassador to Kazakhstan Róbert Kirnág. Special attention was given to new initiatives and projects aimed at deepening bilateral engagement in areas such as mechanical engineering, education.

The parties highlighted the positive dynamics of economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Slovakia. In 2023, bilateral trade increased by 13.3%, reaching 138.9 million US dollars, which reflects the growing interest of businesses in both countries in developing economic ties.

During the meeting with Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Kazakhstan Kathy Leach the parties welcomed the positive dynamics of the development of Kazakh-British relations. Emphasizing the intensive bilateral agenda, Deputy Minister Vassilenko expressed the Kazakh side’s intention to further deepen the dialogue between Astana and London.

The two officials also noted the importance of strengthening trade and economic cooperation and increasing collaboration in the area of both secondary and tertiary education.

Following the recent signing of the Kazakhstan-UK Strategic Partnership and Cooperation Agreement in Astana, the diplomats stressed the importance of its timely ratification and agreed to continue working in this direction.

Furthermore, the meeting focused on the prospective areas of Kazakh-British interaction on regional and global issues, including climate change and management of water resources.

Deputy Minister Vassilenko also received the Ambassador of the French Republic Didier Canesse on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan.

The Deputy Foreign Minister expressed gratitude to the Ambassador for the contribution to the development of relations and emphasized the dynamic development of the political, trade, economic, cultural and people-to-people dialogue between Astana and Paris in recent years.

The importance of maintaining the high dynamics of bilateral visits and the effective implementation of previously reached bilateral agreements, especially in the fields of investment, energy, agriculture, climate change and education, was noted.
