The PRC Anniversary in Almaty: New Prospects for Kazakhstan and China

On September 24, the Consulate General of China in Almaty organized a grand reception in honor of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC). The event brought together over 500 participants, including representatives from the government of Kazakhstan, international organizations, consulates from various countries, as well as business, academic, and cultural sectors.

Strengthening the strategic partnership between China and Kazakhstan, along with the PRC's global achievements in recent decades, became central themes discussed during the reception.

China's Role in the Global Economy and Its Achievements

In her speech, Jiang Wei, the Consul General of China in Almaty, highlighted the key achievements of the People's Republic of China over its 75-year history. She noted that under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the country has made remarkable progress in the fields of economy, technology, and social development. Over the past decades, China has emerged as a major global player, with its contribution to the global economy continuously growing.

"In the last 11 years, China's average contribution to global economic growth has exceeded 30%. We continue to remain the leading 'world factory' and the number one in global trade in terms of turnover," said Jiang Wei.

Furthermore, the Consul General emphasized that China continues to play a significant role in promoting global economic integration, supporting inclusive globalization, and opposing protectionism. Through the "Belt and Road Initiative" (BRI), China actively fosters cooperation with partners, including Kazakhstan, strengthening ties and promoting mutually beneficial development.

China-Kazakhstan Relations: Centuries-old Traditions and Modern Partnership

A key aspect of the reception was the discussion of bilateral relations between China and Kazakhstan. Jiang Wei stressed the unique nature of the strategic partnership between the two countries, which, over 32 years of diplomatic relations, has stood the test of time and international challenges.

"China and Kazakhstan are not just neighbors linked by mountains and rivers, but eternal comprehensive strategic partners. Over the years, our relations have grown stronger, and we continue to work together for mutual prosperity," she said.

She also highlighted the importance of economic cooperation. In the first seven months of 2023, the volume of trade between Kazakhstan and China amounted to $25.5 billion, which is 17% more than in the same period last year. Joint projects within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative are delivering tangible results for both countries, contributing to the development of infrastructure, trade, and industry.

Support for the Belt and Road Initiative

Significant attention was given to the development of the Belt and Road Initiative, which is one of the key areas of cooperation between Kazakhstan and China. In her speech, Jiang Wei emphasized the importance of further strengthening collaboration within this initiative and the need to support its high-quality development.

"We are ready to continue the joint development of the Belt and Road Initiative together with Kazakhstan and other countries, to bring tangible benefits to our peoples," the Consul General noted.

Prospects for High-Tech Cooperation

A notable highlight of the reception was the presentation of Huawei's achievements in the field of technology. Guests at the event were introduced to the latest innovations in artificial intelligence, 5G, and holographic technologies. The presentation garnered significant interest among attendees, underscoring the importance of technological cooperation between Kazakhstan and China.

Bian De Zhi, a representative of Chinese companies in the region, emphasized that joint work in high technology is an important part of bilateral cooperation that will contribute to the modernization of Kazakhstan's economy and the development of digital infrastructure in the country.

"Kazakhstan and China can create innovative solutions together that will serve both the development of the economy and the strengthening of the scientific potential of the region," noted Bian De Zhi.

Important Speeches from Kazakh Representatives

The speeches delivered by Kazakh representatives attending the reception also deserve special attention. Abdrashev, a representative of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, noted that Kazakhstan highly values bilateral cooperation with China and supports efforts to further deepen political and economic partnerships. He emphasized that the Belt and Road Initiative opens up great opportunities for Kazakhstan and facilitates the development of key infrastructure projects in the country.

Marat Sultangaziev, Akim of Almaty Region, highlighted the importance of strengthening regional ties with China, especially in the face of new economic and technological challenges. He stressed that Kazakhstan intends to continue actively working with China on joint projects aimed at improving the well-being of the people and the economic development of the region.

Deputy Akim of East Kazakhstan Region, Darkhan Bakytzhanovich Sapanov, also emphasized the importance of bilateral relations with China, especially highlighting joint efforts in the development of agriculture and industry. According to him, East Kazakhstan plays an important role in trade and economic interactions between the two countries, opening new prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation.

China and Kazakhstan: Shared Goals and Common Challenges

Concluding her speech, Jiang Wei quoted a Chinese proverb: "Those who share the same goals will win, and those who row in the same boat will overcome all difficulties." This saying perfectly reflects the current state of China-Kazakhstan relations, which are built on shared interests and a commitment to cooperation for the prosperity of both countries.
