The Ambassador-Designate of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Sweden Olzhas Suleimenov presented copies of his letters of credence to the Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Maria Kristina Lundqvist.
During the meeting, the parties acknowledged the friendly nature of relations between Kazakhstan and Sweden and emphasized the importance of maintaining a consistent course aimed at comprehensively strengthening bilateral cooperation and deepening interactions between the two countries.
The diplomats stressed the importance of maintaining the high dynamics of bilateral exchanges at the high and the highest levels.
In addition, the sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues related to bilateral and multilateral cooperation, placing particular emphasis on the prospects for developing trade, economic, and investment relations between the two countries.
Furthermore, the Kazakh diplomat highlighted Kazakhstan’s domestic and foreign policy, underscored the development of cooperation between Central Asian countries, and informed the Swedish side about the large-scale reforms initiated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. He also noted the key points from the recent State of the Nation Address by the Head of State, including the decision on the upcoming referendum on the construction of nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan.
In her turn, Maria Christina Lundqvist welcomed this decision, noting Sweden’s positive experience in holding referendums, including on nuclear power in 1980.
In conclusion, the Chief of the Protocol wished the Ambassador success and fruitful work in strengthening Kazakh-Swedish cooperation.
