In honor of the International Day of Older Persons in Kazakhstan, FlyArystan highlighted the importance of providing care and attention to the elderly, DKnews.kz reports.

The airline also shared details about the services available to ensure a comfortable journey for elderly passengers.

How Can an Elderly Passenger's Journey Be Made Comfortable?

The journey for elderly passengers begins at the airport, and navigating the space can be challenging for some. To facilitate this, FlyArystan offers wheelchair services, which can be requested by the passenger or the person purchasing the ticket. The types of wheelchairs available are as follows:

  • For passengers who can walk short distances: These passengers can ascend and descend stairs, move to their seat, and sit down or stand up independently, but may require a wheelchair to cover longer distances.
  • For passengers who cannot climb stairs: These individuals must be carried but can independently move to and from their seat.
  • For passengers who are fully immobile: These passengers require full assistance, including being carried up and down stairs and to and from their seat.

To ensure the availability of a wheelchair, passengers must notify the airline at least 24 hours before departure, as per the Ground Handling Manual. Passengers can book this service through FlyArystan’s contact center, WhatsApp bot, Instagram, Facebook, or via email at special.services@flyarystan.com. For the timely provision of a medical wheelchair, the airline requests that passengers arrive at the airport at least one hour before departure.

When boarding, elderly passengers and individuals with special needs are given priority. To take advantage of this, passengers must be among the first in the boarding queue, arriving no later than 40 minutes before departure. This allows them to settle into their seats and access available overhead storage space more easily.

Since July 19, 2023, FlyArystan has been running a pilot corporate social responsibility project, Komek, officially launched on February 1, 2024. The project aims to support socially vulnerable groups by offering benefits on commercial flights.

Under the Komek initiative, the airline provides a 50% discount on flights within Kazakhstan for individuals with disabilities (Group 1) and one accompanying person. Additionally, passengers with disabilities are entitled to 20 kilograms of free baggage.

Moreover, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, along with individuals deemed equivalent to veterans, and their accompanying persons, are eligible for a 100% discount on flights.

These discounts apply to flights within Kazakhstan and can be used once per person each year.
