Perspective Cooperation Issues with Kazakhstan Discussed at the Council of Europe, DKnews.kz reports
A bilateral meeting between the Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Anel Bakytbekkyzyzy and Secretary General of the Council of Europe (CoE) Alain Berset took place at the CoE Headquarters.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of the Kazakh diplomatic mission congratulated Mr. Berset on his election as a Secretary General of the Council of Europe and conveyed a Congratulation letter of the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu.
The Head of the European organization expressed his satisfaction with the current level of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Council of Europe, noted the steady dynamics of growth of interaction. He also noted the impressive pace of development of our country.
During the talks, Berset was informed in detail about the political transformations in Kazakhstan, as well as the main directions of President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev’s Message “Just Kazakhstan: Law and Order, Economic Growth, Social Optimism”.
The parties discussed promising areas of interaction between Kazakhstan and the Council of Europe. Kazakhstan steadfastly supports the international initiatives of the Council of Europe and shares universal values – democracy, human rights and the rule of law, which are the conditions for achieving stability, security, development and prosperity.
A wide range of issues, including the establishment of closer cooperation with the Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism (MONEYVAL), the Committee of Experts on the Operation of the European Conventions on Cooperation in Criminal Matters (PC-OC), participation in the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission), the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO), strengthening the work within the framework of the CoE’s Neighbourhood Cooperation Priorities with Kazakhstan for 2024-2027 were discussed during the meeting.
The Kazakh diplomat also spoke about strengthening the human rights vector in the political agenda of our state, as well as reforming national legislation.
