Kazakhstan presented achievements in digitalization at the CSIS meeting

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) hosted a presentation of an independent report by American expert Kati Suominen, focusing on the digital transformation of Kazakhstan and the implementation of Digital Public Infrastructure, DKnews.kz reports

The event featured the participation of Timur Suleimenov, Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the U.S., and Andrew Torre, Regional President of Visa.

The report highlights Kazakhstan’s successes in the digitization of payments and services, emphasizing how strategic investments in digital technologies have contributed to the growth of financial inclusion and the establishment of a competitive digital economy. It points out that in 2024, the number of online banking users in Kazakhstan reached nearly 100%, and the share of digital transactions increased to 89%.

Suleimenov elaborated on the conditions that contributed to these achievements and stressed the importance of enhancing digital payments.

Ambassador Ashikbayev, for his part, noted that Kazakhstan’s digital transformation is a crucial step toward ensuring sustainable economic growth and improving the quality of life for its citizens.

The report provides recommendations for other countries aiming for digitization and shares Kazakhstan’s experience in building an effective digital infrastructure that fosters financial inclusion and economic growth.

The presentation concluded with a Q&A session, during which experts exchanged views on the significance of digitalization for the economies of developing countries and how such “success stories” can be adapted in other regions.
