The first campus of a British university in Astana, Coventry University Kazakhstan, in partnership with Astana IT University, has launched a military training programme for its students. This initiative follows a recently signed agreement aimed at meeting the needs of Kazakhstani students who wish to combine studying at an international university with acquiring military-professional skills and knowledge, DKnews.kz reports.
The programme integrates theoretical and practical training, enabling students to attain the rank of reserve officer or sergeant while developing leadership qualities, discipline, and strategic thinking.
Astana IT University’s military department provides training in 19 military specialities, including cybersecurity, geographic information systems, automated troop management systems, unmanned aerial vehicle operations, and more.
“We are proud to offer such a unique opportunity to Kazakhstani students. This initiative strengthens educational ties between countries and contributes to the personal and professional development of young people” Askar Hikmetov, Rector of Astana IT University
"The initiative of Astana IT University and Coventry University Kazakhstan serves as a vivid example of how universities can find effective solutions in response to the challenges of our time and create conditions for the harmonious development of students. This opportunity opens new horizons for students, allowing them to combine world-class education with military training" Miras Daulenov, President of Coventry University Kazakhstan
