Kazakhstan and Slovenia Explore Prospects for Nuclear Energy Cooperation, DKNews.kz reports.
The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Slovenia Daniyar Sarekenov met with Dejan Paravan, CEO of GEN Energija to discuss opportunities for enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.
During the meeting, the parties emphasized the strong potential for long-term partnership between Kazakhstan and Slovenia in areas such as the supply of natural uranium, exchange of expertise in nuclear safety and reactor operations, joint scientific research and innovation in clean energy technologies, as well as education and training programs for nuclear professionals.
These areas of cooperation are expected to contribute to both countries’ goals of strengthening energy security, achieving carbon neutrality, and fostering technological development in the nuclear field.
GEN Energija d.o.o. is a state-owned company that serves as the parent company of the GEN Group, one of the most important actors in the Slovenian energy sector. It manages the Krško Nuclear Power Plant (NEK) and is actively preparing the construction of a second nuclear unit (JEK2). The company invests heavily in low-carbon and sustainable technologies, international partnerships and energy innovation.
