A new freight train has departed from the Beijing International Land Port to Almaty, operating under the China - Europe/Central Asia rail corridors. This is already the 30th train this year, Chinese outlet Zhongguo Xinwenwang reports.

The train carries 110 standard containers with more than 800 tons of cargo worth over 23 million yuan (around $3.28 million), including auto parts, office chairs and other goods bound for regional markets, DKNews.kz reports.

The train is expected to arrive in Almaty in about 10 days, crossing the border through the Alashankou checkpoint in Xinjiang.

Departures are becoming more frequent

The first China - Central Asia train from Beijing left on March 19. Since then, frequency has been rising steadily.

In the fourth quarter alone, 14 trains were dispatched. For comparison, over the previous six months - only 16.

In other words, the average frequency of departures has more than doubled.

Why it matters

According to port data, more than 3,000 TEU have already been shipped, totaling over 15,000 tons of goods worth nearly 500 million yuan.

Growing rail traffic means:

  • faster and more reliable deliveries
  • expanding trade between countries
  • new routes and opportunities for businesses

Rail logistics is becoming a key link between China and Central Asia - and Almaty is emerging as an important hub.
