In Muscat, the capital of Oman, a roundtable titled “The Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Astana as a model of sustainable interreligious dialogue” was held, DKNews.kz reports.
The event brought together:
- Sheikh Ahmad bin Saud bin Said Al-Siyabi, Secretary General of the Office of the Grand Mufti of Oman,
- Abdusalom Khatamov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Oman,
- experts and representatives of the media.
Participants focused in particular on Kazakhstan’s experience - how the country managed to build a respected international platform for trust and dialogue.
Astana - a platform people listen to
Ambassador A. Tumatov briefed the attendees on the history of the Congress, its stages of development and highlighted the key outcomes of the 8th Congress, held on 17-18 September.
He noted that the forum has become a space where representatives of different religions discuss peace, responsibility and human values - not in theory, but through practical initiatives.
“Religion should be a source of peace”
Sheikh Ahmad Al-Siyabi shared warm memories of participating in the 7th Congress in 2022.
He emphasized that the forum in Astana:
- strengthens interreligious dialogue,
- builds trust,
- promotes a culture of peace.
According to him, religion can and should remain a source of creation, harmony and understanding, not division.
Kazakhstan and Oman - common vision for peace and tolerance
Speakers highlighted the unique role of the Astana religious forum and pointed to similarities in the approaches of Kazakhstan and Oman:
- prioritizing peace and dialogue,
- mutual respect,
- tolerance and understanding,
- shared responsibility.
Dialogue as a contribution to global stability
At the end of the meeting, participants expressed confidence that continued dialogue based on respect and responsibility is an important contribution to global stability and mutual understanding.
