Ukraine hosted a roundtable titled “Opportunities for Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Ukraine in the Agribusiness Sector.” The event was organized by the Ukrainian League of Machine-Builders and Employers (Ukrmashbud) together with the Embassy of Kazakhstan, bringing together leaders of major companies and agricultural experts, DKNews.kz reports.
The discussion was less about protocol and more about real, workable projects.
Kazakhstan: agribusiness as a strategic priority
Opening the event, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Tolezhan Barlybayev noted the strong potential for cooperation between the two countries in agribusiness.
He emphasized that in the President’s September Address, the development of the agricultural sector was identified as one of the key national priorities, creating new opportunities for collaboration with Ukrainian partners.
Kazakhstan currently ranks 32nd in the Global Food Security Index, and the country offers favorable conditions for foreign investment in agriculture.
Ukrainian businesses: growing interest in Kazakhstan
Vladimir Sachenko, Chairman of Ukrmashbud, spoke about the League, which unites around 240 leading Ukrainian enterprises.
According to him, interest in Kazakhstan continues to grow:
- localization of production
- joint ventures
- manufacturing of agricultural machinery
- equipment and spare parts for agribusiness
So the conversation went far beyond simple trade.
Concrete ideas: from equipment to building new plants
Representatives of companies such as Agro-Simo-Mashbud, Lubnymash, Braclav, Tiser, Aiss Group, Khorol Mechanical Plant, Wichlacz and others presented practical proposals for the Kazakh market.
Participants highlighted years of successful cooperation and a high level of mutual trust.
One notable proposal came from Aiss Group: to build a plant in Kazakhstan producing solid-fuel industrial boilers and steam generators for energy-intensive enterprises.
Agreements and next steps
Following the roundtable, the sides agreed to:
- jointly organize a Kazakhstan-Ukraine Agribusiness Forum in 2026
- expand Ukrainian participation in agricultural exhibitions in Kazakhstan
- strengthen direct business-to-business ties
All participants also received the QazTrade electronic catalog with up-to-date information on leading Kazakh companies.
Why it matters
For Kazakhstan:
- access to new technologies
- investments and industrial development
- stronger agribusiness sector
For Ukraine:
- entry into a promising market
- joint industrial projects
- new business opportunities in Central Asia
Partnership built on economics creates benefits on both sides.
