US President Donald Trump on Saturday renewed his sharp rhetoric toward Iran, signaling that Washington is ready to intervene as protests continue across the country. According to Trump, Iran is now "seeking freedom like never before", and the United States is prepared to "help" that process, DKNews.kz reports.

Trump made the statement on his Truth Social account.

Iran is seeking freedom, perhaps like never before. The US is ready to help!!! - he wrote.

"If they start killing people - we will intervene"

This is not the first warning from the US president and his administration. In recent days, Trump and other senior US officials have repeatedly stated that Washington is closely monitoring developments in Iran.

Speaking to journalists on Friday, Trump said the United States would take action if Iranian authorities begin killing peaceful protesters.

If they start killing people... we will intervene, - Trump said.

At the same time, he clarified that this does not necessarily mean deploying US troops on Iranian territory.

This does not mean sending armed forces into Iran, but it does mean delivering very strong strikes on painful points, - Trump added.

Tehran’s sharp response

Tehran responded swiftly. On Wednesday, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned what it described as "interventionist and misleading" statements by the Trump administration regarding unrest in the country.

The ministry said the remarks reflect Washington’s long-standing hostility toward the Iranian people and do nothing to help stabilize the situation.

Protests amid economic crisis

Protests in Iran have been ongoing since late December of last year. Demonstrations erupted in several cities following a sharp fall in the national currency, the Iranian rial, and long-standing economic hardships worsened by sanctions.

Iranian authorities have acknowledged the demonstrations and said they are prepared to address economic problems, while warning against violence, vandalism, and unrest.

A new phase of tension

Analysts say Trump’s harsh statements could mark the beginning of a new phase of tension between the United States and Iran. Even without direct military intervention, such rhetoric increases pressure on Tehran and raises the risk of escalation in the region.

With internal protests and external pressure mounting simultaneously, Iran is entering a highly sensitive period. Any miscalculation now could have serious consequences not only for the country itself but for the entire Middle East.
