Kazakhstan and Egypt are exploring new opportunities to strengthen cooperation in healthcare, medicine, and advanced medical technologies. Ambassador of Kazakhstan Askar Zhengis held a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, focusing on practical areas of partnership that directly affect people’s lives, DKNews.kz reports.
During the talks, both sides emphasized the importance of building long-term cooperation in healthcare, medicine, and the pharmaceutical industry. These areas, the participants noted, are becoming increasingly important amid global health challenges and rapid technological change.
The discussion went beyond traditional healthcare cooperation. The parties examined prospects for joint work in a wide range of medical fields, including traditional medicine, pharmaceuticals, epidemiology, and other specialized areas. Special attention was given to the exchange of expertise between qualified doctors and medical scientists, as well as cooperation in monitoring and responding to infectious diseases.
The diplomats agreed on the importance of sharing medical information and data through professional conferences, exhibitions, and scientific platforms. Another key topic was the establishment of closer ties between leading medical researchers from Kazakhstan and Egypt, including regular exchanges of experience among specialists performing complex surgical operations.
Ambassador Askar Zhengis also briefed the Egyptian side on major reforms underway in Kazakhstan’s healthcare system. He highlighted that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has declared 2026 the “Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence”. Within this framework, Kazakhstan has already begun developing a new system that uses artificial intelligence technologies to monitor the quality and volume of medical services nationwide.
The Kazakh diplomat further outlined concrete measures aimed at raising the status of doctors and improving their social conditions, stressing that support for medical professionals is seen as a cornerstone of sustainable healthcare reform.
In response, Minister Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar expressed strong interest in the proposals put forward by the Kazakh side. He confirmed Egypt’s readiness to provide full support for their joint implementation and voiced confidence that the discussed initiatives and agreements would be successfully realized.
Observers note that growing cooperation between Kazakhstan and Egypt in healthcare and medical innovation reflects a shared understanding that modern medicine, science, and digital solutions are key to improving quality of life and strengthening international partnerships.
