Kazakhstan has taken another major step toward digital transformation by launching QazETA, a new state digital platform designed to provide foreign citizens with convenient, transparent and secure access to key migration and related services under the “one-stop-shop” principle, DKNews.kz reports.

The project aims to modernize interaction between foreigners and Kazakhstan’s government bodies, making entry, stay and everyday procedures simpler and faster. At this stage, QazETA is operating in pilot mode and will be rolled out gradually.

What is QazETA and why it matters

QazETA serves as a single digital entry point for foreigners, ensuring seamless interaction with government services – from entering the country to accessing daily services.

The platform is designed to:

  • simplify entry and stay procedures for foreign nationals in Kazakhstan;
  • create a unified digital journey for foreigners, from arrival to daily life services;
  • increase transparency and reduce application processing times;
  • improve service quality;
  • move core migration procedures to a digital and mobile format.

Services already available on QazETA

Currently, the platform offers four key services.

Electronic Visa (e-Visa)

The e-Visa is a fully digital version of Kazakhstan’s visa service for foreign citizens and stateless persons.

Citizens of 104 countries can apply for a single-entry e-Visa under the following categories:

  • official and investor visas;
  • business visas;
  • private visas;
  • tourist visas;
  • medical treatment visas;
  • Digital Nomad Visa.

An e-Visa is issued based on an electronically issued invitation and is valid only for the visa holder. Entry and exit using an e-Visa are permitted exclusively through Kazakhstan’s international airports.

Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)

ETA is intended for citizens of countries that enjoy visa-free entry to Kazakhstan. Applications must be submitted via the mobile app at least 72 hours before travel.

ETA is valid for 180 days, while the actual duration of stay is regulated under Kazakhstan’s migration legislation. Importantly, ETA does not automatically guarantee entry – the final decision is made by border authorities.

During the pilot phase, ETA remains recommended, but Kazakhstan plans to gradually introduce it as a mandatory requirement.

Electronic Residency (e-Residency)

e-Residency is an innovative tool that allows foreigners and stateless persons outside Kazakhstan to access digital public and commercial services within the jurisdiction of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC).

Through e-Residency, users can:

  • obtain an Individual Identification Number (IIN) remotely;
  • open bank accounts and payment cards;
  • activate an eSIM;
  • register companies and conduct business online.

Certificate of crossing Kazakhstan’s state border

Foreign citizens can also obtain official confirmation of crossing Kazakhstan’s state border, including for IMEI verification of mobile devices.

What’s coming next

The QazETA platform will continue to expand. Future services are expected to include:

  • digital medical insurance registration;
  • fast-track border control for ETA holders;
  • online payment of service fees;
  • additional digital public services.

How to access QazETA

The QazETA mobile application is available on Google Play and App Store. A dedicated technical support service is also in place. Users can send inquiries and feedback to support@qazeta.kz.

Why QazETA is a big deal

The launch of QazETA highlights Kazakhstan’s ambition to position itself as an open, modern and digitally advanced state. The platform significantly improves convenience for tourists, investors, digital nomads and entrepreneurs, while reducing bureaucracy and administrative barriers.

With QazETA, Kazakhstan is strengthening its role as a regional digital hub, creating a more welcoming and user-friendly environment for foreign citizens in the heart of Eurasia.
