President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council, which was held on February 20, 2026, in Washington, D.C, DKNews.kz reports.

Opening his remarks, the Head of State thanked U.S. President Donald Trump for organizing the summit.

“Our meeting at the Donald Trump Institute of Peace is taking place at a time when decisive and pragmatic actions are becoming critically important. In essence, this is about building a durable peace through practical, targeted measures, rather than through endless conferences and resolutions based solely on good intentions. Mr. President, your clear vision and forward-looking approach to promoting global peace and stability inspired my country to join the Peace Council,” he said.

Kazakhstan supports a new international initiative

According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Peace Council responds to modern challenges and can strengthen existing international mechanisms.

The President emphasized:

“The world has not seen initiatives of this kind before — in essence, this is an unprecedented step, as the innovative concept of ‘Peace through Creation’ has every chance of becoming a reality through our joint efforts. Therefore, Mr. President, I fully share your belief that lasting peace must be built on concrete actions.”

Kazakhstan ready to participate in Gaza reconstruction

The President of Kazakhstan also stated that the country is ready to join international efforts aimed at stabilizing and rebuilding the Gaza Strip.

He said:

“Kazakhstan is interested in participating in reconstruction and development processes through international companies with proven business reputations and high levels of expertise. This program may include the construction of infrastructure, housing, schools, hospitals, and other essential social facilities. As one of the world’s largest wheat producers, our country is ready to provide humanitarian assistance to ensure food security in Gaza and beyond. Kazakhstan plans to allocate more than 500 educational grants for Palestinian students to study at our universities over the next five years. We could also share our internationally recognized experience in e-government and other digital solutions. Kazakhstan is ready to support international stabilization forces by deploying medical units with a field hospital, as well as observers to the Civil-Military Coordination Center.”

Decision to join the Abraham Accords

The President noted that sustainable development in the Middle East requires new mechanisms of cooperation.

He stated:

“Guided by this conviction, Kazakhstan has decided to join the Abraham Accords, thereby contributing to pragmatic economic and humanitarian cooperation in the region and beyond. These principles fully align with the noble mission of the Peace Council.”

Proposal for a special international award

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also proposed establishing a special international award.

“I would also like to propose creating, under the auspices of the Peace Council, a special award bearing President Trump’s name in recognition of his outstanding achievements in promoting peace. I am confident that under your strong and visionary leadership, the Council will successfully fulfill its noble mission,” he concluded.
