Cairo University Hosts Book Presentation of Askar Mussinov’s Work

A presentation of the Arabic edition of the book “The Near and Middle East in the System of International Relations” by distinguished Kazakh diplomat Askar Mussinov took place at the historic Cairo University. The event was organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Egypt and brought together diplomats, academics, and public figures from Kazakhstan and Egypt, DKNews.kz reports.

The evening reflected the steady growth of intellectual and diplomatic exchange between the two countries, with a focus on the role of Kazakhstan in regional and international dialogue.

Tribute to a Diplomatic Career

In his opening remarks, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Egypt, Askar Zhengis, highlighted the contribution of Askar Mussinov to Kazakh diplomacy and stressed the importance of preserving his professional legacy for younger generations.

He also spoke about the current state of Kazakhstan–Egypt relations, noting ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation in political, cultural, and academic spheres. The ambassador expressed gratitude to all guests who attended the event.

High-Level Participation

The presentation brought together senior representatives of the diplomatic and political community, including Kairat Sarybay, Secretary-General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), and Batyrshaev, Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

Kairat Sarybay focused on Askar Mussinov’s diplomatic career and his contribution to strengthening Kazakhstan’s ties with Arab countries.

Batyrshaev delivered a special message from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and provided an overview of Mussinov’s professional path and achievements in diplomacy.

Recognition from the Arab and Islamic World

A video address from Berik Aryn, General Director of the Islamic Organization for Food Security, was also shown during the ceremony. He emphasized Askar Mussinov’s contribution to the development of relations with the Islamic world and highlighted key moments of his career.

Among the prominent Egyptian guests was Amr Moussa, former Foreign Minister of Egypt and former Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, who officially cut the ribbon at the book launch ceremony.

Former Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Al-Orabi praised the Arabic translation of the book, noting its academic value and relevance to current Middle Eastern studies and research.

Reflections on Bilateral Relations

Ezzat Saad Al-Sayed, former Deputy Foreign Minister of Egypt and current Director of the Egyptian Foreign Affairs Council, spoke about Askar Mussinov’s tenure as Ambassador to Egypt from 1999 to 2002. He highlighted his role in important developments in relations between the two countries.

Ahmed Abdullah, former governor of the Red Sea Province and chairman of the Kazakh–Egyptian Friendship Association, also noted Mussinov’s contribution to strengthening bilateral ties.

The event brought together ambassadors accredited in Egypt, writers, politicians, and representatives of the media community, reflecting wide international interest in the publication.

A Personal Moment

The ceremony concluded with a gesture from the family of Askar Mussinov, who arrived from Kazakhstan to attend the event. They expressed gratitude to the Embassy for the work on the translation and presentation of the book and presented commemorative gifts to guests of honour.

A short biographical video about Askar Mussinov was also shown, offering guests an overview of his life and diplomatic career.
