Kazakhstan has delivered humanitarian assistance to Iran following instructions from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to support the Iranian people, DKNews.kz reports.

The aid shipment was organized by the Kazakhstan Agency of International Development KazAID together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Healthcare.

Humanitarian cargo handed over at Serakhs station

The official handover ceremony took place at the Serakhs railway station, where the humanitarian cargo was transferred to the Iranian Red Crescent Society.

The event was attended by Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Iran Ontalap Onalbayev, representatives of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, and Head of the Representative Office of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Khorasan Razavi Province Gholamabbas Arbab Khales.

Food and medical supplies included in shipment

The humanitarian cargo included:

  • canned meat products
  • sugar
  • first-grade flour
  • medical supplies
  • medicines

According to the Kazakh side, the assistance is aimed at supporting the people of Iran and helping meet socially important needs.

The cargo consists of 30 railway wagons and will be transported to Tehran for further distribution among relevant institutions.

Kazakhstan highlights partnership with Iran

Speaking during the ceremony, Ambassador Ontalap Onalbayev emphasized the importance of relations between the two countries.

«A friend in need is a friend indeed. Kazakhstan has consistently supported the people of Iran during various periods,» he said.

Representatives of the Iranian Red Crescent Society thanked Kazakhstan for the humanitarian assistance and noted that the move would help strengthen bilateral relations and mutual support.

Why this matters

Iran remains one of Kazakhstan’s key partners in the Middle East and the Islamic world. Humanitarian cooperation has become an important part of bilateral relations alongside trade, transport and regional dialogue.

The delivery of aid also reflects Kazakhstan’s broader approach to humanitarian diplomacy and regional cooperation during difficult periods.
