Freedom is expanding into Türkiye. The Nasdaq-listed financial group has secured a brokerage licence and plans to build on a digital ecosystem model it has already developed in Kazakhstan, DKNews.kz reports.
Freedom Yatırım Menkul Değerler A.Ş., part of Freedom Holding Corp. (NASDAQ: FRHC), has received authorisation from Türkiye’s Capital Markets Board (CMB) to conduct brokerage activities. According to the company, it is the first foreign brokerage firm with broad operating powers to receive such a licence in Türkiye in 34 years.
Turkish investors could gain wider access to global markets
The licence gives Freedom a foothold in one of the region’s largest financial markets and forms part of a broader strategy to connect Türkiye more closely with the group’s international investment infrastructure.

A key part of that expansion will be TraderNet, Freedom’s proprietary trading platform. The company plans to use it to gradually provide Turkish investors with broader access to international capital markets.
Freedom Yatırım has already integrated its systems with Borsa İstanbul, Türkiye’s main stock exchange.
That connection works in both directions. Turkish clients are expected to gain access to Freedom’s international brokerage capabilities, while the group’s global brokerage network will be able to tap investment opportunities in the Turkish market.
Freedom Holding Corp. says its brokerage operations currently serve more than 870,000 client accounts across multiple markets.
For Türkiye, the move could help increase international participation in the local capital market. For Freedom, it adds another major national exchange to a financial infrastructure that increasingly spans several jurisdictions.
The strategy has a clear Kazakhstan connection
The most distinctive part of Freedom’s Türkiye strategy lies outside traditional brokerage.

The group plans to combine the capabilities of Freedom Yatırım and Freedom Bank with a range of everyday digital services on a single platform.
The concept draws directly on Freedom’s experience in Kazakhstan, the Central Asian country where the group has built an ecosystem combining banking, investments and consumer services through Freedom SuperApp.
Freedom Holding Corp. CEO Timur Turlov said the Kazakhstan model would serve as a reference point for the company’s development in Türkiye.
“Obtaining the licence in Türkiye is a significant demonstration of confidence from the regulator and reflects the resilience we have built across our international operations.
Our broader strategy in Türkiye is to create an integrated digital financial ecosystem around Freedom Bank and Freedom Yatırım. We will draw on the group’s experience in Kazakhstan, where Freedom SuperApp brings banking, investment and everyday digital services together on a single platform and has already become part of people’s daily lives. In Türkiye, we plan to adapt this model to the needs of the local market, gradually bringing banking, brokerage and other financial services together with lifestyle services in a seamless digital environment,” Turlov said.

The emphasis is on adaptation rather than simply replicating the Kazakhstan product.
Türkiye has its own regulatory framework, banking landscape and consumer habits, meaning the group will need to localise both its financial offering and the wider ecosystem around it.
Kazakhstan becomes a testing ground for international expansion
For Freedom, the Türkiye launch also gives its Kazakhstan operations a broader strategic significance.
The group is effectively taking a model developed in one Central Asian market and testing whether it can be transferred to a much larger economy with a deeper capital market and a different competitive environment.
That makes Kazakhstan more than Freedom’s domestic operating base. The country is also becoming a source of products, technology and business models that the group wants to take abroad.
If the Turkish rollout follows the strategy outlined by Turlov, banking and brokerage will be only the first layer.
The longer-term plan is to bring financial and lifestyle services into one digital ecosystem, following the same broad logic that Freedom has used in Kazakhstan.

The licence is secured, but the service is not live yet
The regulatory approval does not mean Turkish investors can immediately access the full range of Freedom Yatırım services.
The company is still completing operational preparations and carrying out comprehensive system testing before launch.
Once that process is completed, Freedom Yatırım plans to begin offering investment services tailored to the Turkish market and local investors.
The next stage will therefore be about execution: launching the brokerage service, expanding access to global markets and eventually integrating Freedom Yatırım and Freedom Bank within the broader digital platform.
For Freedom Holding Corp., Türkiye will be a major test of whether a financial ecosystem built and scaled in Kazakhstan can travel successfully beyond its original market.
