The $10 billion benchmark has been set for business. Kazakhstan is prioritizing the expansion of direct ties between entrepreneurs in the two countries as one of the main tools for increasing trade with Uzbekistan, DKNews.kz reports.

Prospects for bilateral economic cooperation were discussed by Yeraly Tugzhanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan, and Kanat Sharlapayev, Chairman of the Presidium of the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs.

$10 Billion Should Be Backed by Concrete Business Ties

The central topic of the meeting was the goal of increasing mutual trade between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to $10 billion.

The sides discussed this benchmark from a practical perspective, focusing on expanding contacts between entrepreneurs in the two countries and strengthening partnerships in key sectors of the economy.

For businesses, this approach means that trade growth should be accompanied by new direct links between companies. The more enterprises work with each other directly, the greater the opportunities to increase mutual supplies and develop industrial cooperation.

Atameken Joins the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan Business Agenda

The involvement of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs brings the discussion of the $10 billion target directly to the level of the business community.

During the meeting between Tugzhanov and Sharlapayev, the parties separately discussed expanding cooperation between entrepreneurs from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. No specific companies, projects, or volumes of future deals were announced.

The main focus was placed on strengthening business ties and identifying areas where companies from the two countries could expand cooperation.

Key Sectors Could Become Growth Drivers

Another area discussed at the meeting was the strengthening of partnerships in key sectors of the economy.

The statement did not specify which sectors were under consideration. However, their development is directly linked to the broader objective: turning the $10 billion benchmark from an interstate goal into concrete contracts, supplies, and cooperation between entrepreneurs.

For Kazakh businesses, Uzbekistan remains a neighboring and important market. Further growth in economic ties will also depend on the ability of companies to find new partners and expand direct cooperation.

Following the meeting, the main benchmark remained unchanged — $10 billion in mutual trade. The practical side of achieving this goal is increasingly shifting toward direct cooperation between entrepreneurs in the two countries.
