Kazakhstan is competing in every weight class. The national team has arrived at the XII Qazaq Kuresi World Championships in Baku with a full squad and will contest medals in all 16 divisions, DKNews.kz reports.
The championships are being held on August 22–23 at the Baku Sports Palace. According to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the program is split evenly between men and women, with eight weight categories for each.

Kazakhstan Entered Athletes in All 16 Weight Categories
Kazakhstan is represented across the entire competition program.
The national team has entries in every division, ranging from 55 kg to over 100 kg for men and from 48 kg to over 77 kg for women.
The men’s categories are 55, 60, 66, 74, 82, 90, 100 and over 100 kg. The women compete at 48, 52, 56, 60, 65, 70, 77 and over 77 kg.
A full roster gives Kazakhstan a chance to compete for medals in every category on the program.
More Than 300 Wrestlers From Nearly 30 Countries Gather in Baku
The tournament brings together far more than the traditional strongholds of the sport.
More than 300 athletes from nearly 30 countries are competing in Baku. According to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Qazaq Kuresi is now practiced in more than 40 countries.
This year’s event is the 12th World Championship in the Kazakh national style of wrestling. Previous international competitions have included 11 world championships, 13 Asian championships, six World Cups, six European championships and two African championships.
The tournament is organized by the Qazaq Kuresi Association and Azerbaijan’s national sports association in accordance with United World Wrestling requirements.
Eight More Titles Will Be Decided on August 23
The World Championships are divided into two competition days.
On August 22, men competed in the 55, 60, 66 and 74 kg divisions, while women contested the 48, 52, 56 and 60 kg categories.
On August 23, the remaining eight titles will be decided. Men will compete at 82, 90, 100 and over 100 kg, while the women’s divisions are 65, 70, 77 and over 77 kg.
Both days include preliminary rounds, semifinals, finals and medal ceremonies.
Qazaq Kuresi Continues to Grow Beyond Kazakhstan
Baku has become another major international stage for Kazakhstan’s traditional wrestling style.
International Qazaq Kuresi events have previously been held in Kazakhstan, Iran, Brazil, South Africa and other countries. Azerbaijan now joins that list as host of the XII World Championships.
With Kazakhstan represented in all 16 divisions, the team remains in contention across the entire program, including the eight categories scheduled for the second competition day.
