Warehouses are going high-tech. On September 3, Almaty will host the international Future Logistics conference, bringing together executives from logistics, retail, manufacturing, warehouse development, and technology companies to discuss automation, robotics, WMS systems, and ways to reduce logistics costs, DKNews.kz reports.
According to the organizers, the conference will take place in Almaty on September 3, 2026. The business program will be held at the Renion City Hotel, followed by a tour of a modern warehouse facility. The full agenda is available on the official Future Logistics conference website.
Robotics and WMS Move to the Center of Warehouse Economics
One of the conference’s main themes will be the transition from labor-intensive warehouse operations to automated management.
Participants will discuss warehouse robotics, the implementation of WMS — warehouse management systems, modern distribution technologies, and solutions designed to speed up goods handling and improve cost control.
For businesses, the issue is no longer limited to choosing a particular software platform or piece of equipment. Automation affects the entire chain, from receiving and put-away to storage, order picking, dispatch, and inventory control.

Kazakhstan’s Warehouse Market Has Reached a New Stage
The conference comes at a time of significant change in Kazakhstan’s warehouse market.
According to IBC Real Estate data previously cited by DKNews.kz, the vacancy rate in Kazakhstan’s warehouse sector reached 11.1%, or 234,000 square meters, in the first half of 2026. This was the highest level in five years.
At the same time, 68% of Kazakhstan’s warehouse space is concentrated in Almaty, making the country’s largest city one of the key venues for discussing where the industry is heading.
After a period of rapid warehouse construction, the market is now facing a different challenge: filling new facilities with tenants. In this environment, warehouse efficiency, automation levels, and the cost of logistics operations are becoming increasingly important competitive factors.
Almaty Will Discuss How to Cut Logistics Costs
A separate part of the Future Logistics program will focus on cost optimization.
For manufacturers, retailers, and distributors, logistics costs are determined by far more than transportation expenses. They also depend on warehouse processing speed, space utilization, inventory accuracy, workforce organization, and order fulfillment efficiency.
This is why the organizers have included technologies that allow warehouse processes to be managed as an integrated system, from WMS platforms to robotic equipment.

Warehouse Vacancies Are Rising, but Business Requirements Are Too
Kazakhstan’s warehouse market is showing a seemingly contradictory trend: more space is becoming available, while demand for efficient, high-quality facilities remains strong.
We previously reported that every ninth square meter of warehouse space in Kazakhstan is currently vacant. With approximately 2.1 million square meters of quality Class A and B warehouse stock, competition for tenants is becoming more intense.
At the same time, Almaty continues to add major modern logistics facilities. At the end of 2025, the city opened the Eurasian Logistics Park, a Class A facility covering 50,300 square meters.
The September 3 conference will take place at the intersection of these two trends: warehouse infrastructure is expanding, while businesses are under growing pressure to make those facilities more efficient.
