Canadian Senator David Wells made a statement in the first session of 2022 of the Senate of Canada in honor of the 30th anniversary of Independence of Kazakhstan and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Canada, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.
In his speech Davis Wells said that in a relatively short historical period Kazakhstan has achieved significant progress and socio-political success in its development. In his opinion, over the 30 years of its Independence, our state has become an authoritative member of the international community and transformed into a dynamically developing country on the Eurasian continent.
The Canadian senator emphasized Kazakhstan's significant contribution to nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), UN peacekeeping activities and Kazakhstan's membership in the UN Security Council. He separately noted the important role of our country in the creation of the Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in Central Asia (CAWFZ).
D.Wells also characterized the similarity of the parliamentary systems of Kazakhstan and Canada, noting that in both countries there is a bicameral parliament, consisting of the upper house (Senate) and the lower house (Mazhilis).
At the end of his speech, D.Wells congratulated Kazakhstan on the 30th anniversary of Independence and stressed the importance of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Canada.
April 10th will be 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Canada. As part of the information and image coverage of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan are planning to hold a number of events.
