On March 10, 2022, the 5th meeting of the assembly on unification between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the EU was held in Brussels within the framework of the association in a hybrid format, in which Arman Abenov took part in the association for technical regulation and metrology of the Ministry of Technical Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.

Today, the EU is a trading partner of Kazakhstan, which accounts for almost 40% of the country's total foreign trade. The trade turnover of Kazakhstan with the expenditure is almost 24 billion dollars.

During the event, the Kazakh side welcomes the creation of a joint task force on technical regulation, standardization and conformity assessment, including opinions from the European Union and the Kazakh side regarding restrictions, including on organic products.

Within the framework of this WG, it is possible to discuss the operational exchange of information and the organization of training events aimed at raising awareness of Kazakh and European exporters about the requirements for access to products of the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union, in particular, about the mandatory requirements of directives and regulations on product safety, conformity assessment and market surveillance procedures, conformity assessment bodies, taking into account various aspects and product categories (food, industrial, organic, halal products, etc.).

Special attention within the framework of EU cooperation is paid to the development of mutual organic products,

Arman Abenov also spoke about the implementation of the project of marking and traceability of identification signs in Kazakhstan.

"... after two years of pilot projects, mandatory labeling has been introduced in the Republic of Kazakhstan:

  • fur products from March 31, 2019;
  • tobacco products from October 1, 2020;
  • footwear products from November 1, 2021.

To date, it is planned to gradually introduce mandatory labeling of medicines from July 1, 2022," Arman Abenov said.
