As part of participation in the XX Doha International Forum, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi held a number of bilateral meetings with heads of state bodies and large companies of the State of Qatar, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.
During the talks with the Minister of Industry and Trade of the State of Qatar, the Co–Chairman of the Kazakh-Qatari High-level Joint Commission, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani, the parties stressed the need for further development of trade and economic ties and increasing bilateral trade turnover between the states. In this context, the importance of using the capabilities of the Intergovernmental Commission, the next 6th meeting of which is scheduled to be held in Doha this year, was noted.
The Kazakh Foreign Minister said that Qatar is an important political and economic partner of Kazakhstan in the Arab world. "An open and trusting dialogue at the highest political level has been established between our countries. We are confident that by joint efforts we will raise our cooperation to a qualitatively new stage of development," M. Tleuberdi said.
The parties discussed the schedule of joint events, including the holding of the Kazakh-Qatari Investment Forum and Qatar Day within the framework of Astana Financial Days on the eve of the upcoming state visit of the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Kazakhstan this year.
Minister M. Tleuberdi also held separate meetings with Chairman of the Board of the Qatar Investment Authority Investment Fund Mansour Al-Mahmoud, Chairman of the Qatar Businessmen's Association, Head of Faisal Holding Sheikh Faisal bin Qasim Al-Thani, Chairman of the Board of Power International Holding Mutaz Al-Hayat. During these meetings, issues of creating a joint investment fund and implementing a number of major investment projects in the mining industry, agriculture, medicine and tourism were discussed.
