Mongolia stresses the relevance of CICA in the modern world

As part of a working visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Munkhjin Batsumber visited the CICA headquarters on 31 May 2022, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.

In a meeting with the high-level guest at the Secretariat, CICA Executive Director Ambassador Kairat Sarybay highlighted the importance of continuing the dialogue with the Mongolian Foreign Ministry on the issues raised during the recent visit of the Secretariat delegation to Ulaanbaatar on 10-11 May 2022, as well as informed about the preparations for the Sixth CICA Summit, the Kazakh Chairmanship’s priorities, and potential joint efforts within the forum. 

The Deputy Minister of Mongolia noted the increasing significance of multilateralism in light of the changing geopolitical situation. The Mongolian diplomat stressed the relevance of CICA in finding solutions to global and regional security challenges.  

The Executive Director informed his interlocutor about the growing momentum of cooperation between the Member States in CICA’s economic dimension, in particular on such pertinent issues as economic connectivity, development of secure and effective transportation corridors, as well as energy and food security.

The parties also exchanged views on the prospects of interaction through the CICA advisory bodies, the Business and Youth Councils, as well as on potential joint projects as part of the implementation of confidence building measures in CICA’s five dimensions.

Special emphasis was placed on enhancing interaction within CICA in the priority area of environmental protection coordinated by Mongolia.
