Kazakhstan and Lithuania are developing cooperation in the legal sphere

Ambassador of Kazakhstan Viktor Temirbaev and Minister of Justice of Lithuania Ewelina Dobrowolska signed the Protocol on Amendments to the Treaty on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters dated August 9, 1994, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.

During the meeting, the Kazakh diplomat noted that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in his Address to the people of Kazakhstan, paid special attention to the issues of ensuring the rule of law and increasing the effectiveness of combating corruption. In this context, the signed Protocol will contribute to the further development of cooperation between the two countries in the legal sphere, which is an important area of interaction between the countries.

In turn, Ewelina Dobrowolska stressed that Kazakhstan and Lithuania are striving to strengthen bilateral cooperation by providing legal assistance to the institutions of the two countries in considering civil, family and criminal cases. Taking into account the changing competencies of the state bodies of the two countries, the parties intend to expand the circle of competent institutions and simplify the procedure for communications between them.

According to the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, within the framework of bilateral cooperation, since 2020, the competent authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan have executed 21 Lithuanian requests for legal assistance, in turn, the competent authorities of Lithuania have executed 10 requests from the Kazakh side.
