Kazakhstan plans to strengthen trade cooperation with African countries

Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Torebayev met with Ambassador of Sierra Leone Mohamed Yongawa, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.

It is noted that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to the development of trade and economic cooperation with African countries.

According to Vice-Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Torebayev, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Sierra Leone in January-September 2022 amounted to 11.4 million US dollars, which is 398.7 times higher than in the same period of the previous year (28.6 thousand US dollars). The growth of trade turnover for 9 months of 2022 between the countries is observed due to an increase in imported products.

In turn, the Ambassador of Sierra Leone Mohamed Yongavo reported on the import and export potential of the Republic of Sierra Leone, as well as on integration associations in West Africa, on the possibilities of transport and transit cooperation.

According to the Ambassador, agriculture and mining are the mainstays of Sierra Leone's economy.

In general, the parties came to an agreement on cooperation for the development of trade and economic relations, as well as the development of proposals for cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats.

Recall that diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Sierra Leone were established on November 20, 2014.

The main imports to Kazakhstan from Sierra Leone are: titanium ores and concentrates - 11.2 million US dollars (with a share of 98.2%), centrifuges, equipment and devices for filtering liquids or gases - 203.4 thousand US dollars (1.8%).
