Diseases of the cardiovascular system, including those associated with cardiac arrhythmias, are increasing every year. Late diagnosis and non-compliance with medical prescriptions by patients can turn mild forms of diseases into chronic ones, which in turn require timely examination by doctors, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.
One of the solutions for constant monitoring of patients' health was the development of a device that transmits data directly to a mobile phone application. It is the implantation of a cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator (CRT-D), which allows the patient to monitor heart rhythm disturbances and life-threatening arrhythmias at any time of the day. Previously implanted defibrillators did not have the function of transmitting data to a mobile phone, so patients had to come to an appointment regularly. An important advantage of the updated device is the ability to transfer patient data to the attending physician in the same application. The doctor, in turn, can remotely monitor the condition of the patients. During the master class on November 21-22, 2022, for the first time in the CIS, the implantation of an improved device was performed by doctors of the Heart Center under the guidance of Ayan Abdrakhmanov, head of the Department of Interventional Arrhythmology.
“The implantation of this device was performed in patients with heart failure and a high risk of sudden cardiac death. On the first day of the master class, together with a colleague from Serbia, Professor Goran Milasinovic, we performed the implantation of a defibrillator for two patients. On the second day, our team independently performed two more surgeries. The condition of the patients is satisfactory, they are preparing for discharge and are already familiar with the capabilities of the application” Ayan Abdrakhmanov
Information from the device is transmitted safely for the patient's health to the mobile application via Bluetooth, without disrupting the operation of the device. The remote monitoring will allow patients living in farther regions of the country to be under the constant supervision of doctors at a distance.
