Karaganda athlete Nikita Abdrakhmanov became the absolute world champion in weightlifting. The championship among boys and girls was held in Albania, the city of Durres, DKNews.kz reports.
256 boys and 248 girls from 54 countries took part in the competitions. From the Karaganda region, Daria Balabayuk and Nikita Abdrakhmanov joined the Kazakhstan national team – and both won medals.
Nikita Abdrakhmanov justified the hopes of his coach Alexander Kiryukhin and the fans. In the weight category up to 102 kg, he lifted 369 kg in total. Jerk – 164 kg, push – 205 kg. As a result, gold.
Daria Balabayuk won the bronze medal in the snatch. Last year, a pupil of the regional integrated sports school took third place in the snatch at the World Weightlifting Championships among boys and girls and second in the clean and jerk at the Asian Championships.
