Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency Askhat Zhumagali met with UNODC Regional Representative Ashita Mittal, DKNews.kz reports.
During the meeting, Askhat Zhumagali acquainted the UN representatives with the Agency’s current plans and legislative initiatives, including ongoing work in business and entrepreneurship protection as well as the return of illegally withdrawn assets.
The head of Anti-Corruption Service informed that the Agency has ensured the return to the budget of Kazakhstan of over USD 1.4 bln in the form of property, assets and cash since 2022.
The parties discussed the possibility of further strengthening cooperation, sharing experience in investigating corruption using high technologies, including cryptocurrencies.
Ms. Mittal highly appreciated the work of the Anti-Corruption Service and expressed readiness to provide expert assistance as well as strengthen partnership.
