On March 27-30, Kazakh Ambassador to the U.S. Yerzhan Ashikbayev paid a regional visit to Massachusetts. The working visit consisted of events within the U.S. State Department's "Experience America" project for heads of diplomatic missions and other separate bilateral meetings with political leadership, representatives of business and academic circles, DKNews.kz reports.
As part of the “Experience America” project program, discussions were held with the Massachusetts Business Roundtable, an organization of local companies, as well as meetings with MassBio and LabCentral representatives. Ambassador Ashikbayev also got acquainted with the work of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Pfizer laboratory.
When the events of “Experience America” were over, Ambassador Ashikbayev held meetings with the President Pro Tempore of the Massachusetts Senate William Brownsberger and the Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives Ronald Mariano, during which they discussed enhancing the interaction in education between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Boston.
At the talks with the leadership of the Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment, the Kazakh diplomat spoke in detail about the investment opportunities of Kazakhstan.
During the meetings with representatives of Harvard University and the Davis Center, promising scientific projects and events related to Kazakhstan were discussed. Further, Ambassador Ashikbayev took part in a panel session: "The Development Strategy of Kazakhstan in the Context of Geopolitical Turbulence" for the professorial staff and students of Harvard University.
A particular attention during the trip was paid to cooperation with Perkins School. An action plan was discussed within the framework of the partnership between the Dara Charitable Foundation and the Perkins School for the improvement of the special boarding school No. 4 for blind and visually impaired children after Ostrovsky, located in Almaty.
