In the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on the eve of the International Day of Museums and the International Day of Tea, the opening of the stock exhibition "The World of Tea Traditions" took place, DKNews.kz reports.
In his welcoming speech, the Director of the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bakytzhan Temirbolat, noted that tea, which first appeared in China more than two thousand years ago, quickly penetrated from the countries of Southeast Asia to the countries of Europe, America and Africa thanks to the Great Silk Road. Tea came to Kazakhstan only in the middle of the 19th century and became an integral part of our culture.
According to Asylbek Baitanuly, editor of the Literary Portal Internet project:
“Today tea is the second most popular drink in the world after water, and our country is among the top ten countries in terms of its consumption. On average, one inhabitant of Kazakhstan consumes about 5 kg of tea per year” Asylbek Baitanuly
In turn, the chairman of the public association “Uzbek Ethnocultural Center” in Astana, Sherzod Pulatov, emphasized that the tea traditions of different peoples combine not only love for this drink, but also features of culture, philosophy and way of life. In the countries of East Asia, thanks to the tea ceremony, people show their hospitality, establish dialogue and resolve conflicts.
It is worth noting that the exhibition presents more than 100 very different and often unique exhibits from the museum collection of the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which illustrate the culture of tea traditions of various peoples of the world.
Here are the main types of tea utensils: sets, water vessels, samovars and other products made by artisans from China, South Korea, Japan, Russia, and other countries of Asia and Europe. A high level of workmanship, an incredible variety of shapes and decor distinguishes these items made of porcelain, faience, ceramics, glass and stone.
