On May 26, 2023, an evening of Kazakh culture took place as part of the Kazakhstan Days at the 5th ECG Film Festival in London. It began with a screening video of The Story of One Sky by the popular Kazakh singer Dimash.

The event was organized jointly with the singer's fan club in Great Britain, which is headed by Jill Beecham, DKNews.kz reports.

The delightful music video received a standing ovation. The main element of the video is Dimash's stunning voice, which makes the listeners stop for a moment and just enjoy every note.

Then on stage at the Premier Cinema Romford there was a discussion with the leadership of the British fan club Jill Beecham, Sebi Dunn and the famous British poet and guardian of the Eurasian Creative Guild, John Fardon:

"We in London admire Dimash's talent and creativity and wish him new bright and creative ideas and boundless creative success" John Fardon

The guests of the festival could enjoy the artworks of the participants of the art-catalogue "The Great Steppe Treasury", published by Hertfordshire Press, which included the works of five artists from Kazakhstan: Said Ashirbayev (Shymkent), Zeinelkhan Mukhamedjan (Almaty), Zhazira Janabaeva (Almaty), Kuttybek Zhakyp (Shymkent), Daria Zalesskaya (Almaty). The catalogue was also sent to the top 10 art galleries in London. Special attention was given to the work of an outstanding portrait painter from Almaty, Lydia Drozdova whose work (portrait of Maria Shevel) took a place of honor in the Daniel's view gallery at the festival.

The evening ended with a screening of The Crying Steppe (directed by Marina Kunarova, produced by Yerlan Malikov).

The Crying Steppe is a wonderful example of Kazakh cinematography that deserves the attention of the audience. The film is based on real historical events that befell the indigenous population of Kazakhstan in the 1920s-1930s.

One of the organizers of ECG Film Festival - 2023 Timur Akhmedjanov emphasized that such events are an important step in the preservation and development of Kazakh art, as well as strengthening of ties between different cultures and peoples in Eurasia.

The Days of Kazakh Culture are taking place at the 5th ECG Film Festival from May 25 to 30, 2023. They include screenings of films from Kazakhstan, presentations by artists, a musical performance by Erlan Ryskali, and a presentation of new books by Dulat Isabekov, published by Hertfordshire Press in English.
