Pictures of outstanding women of Kazakhstan are presented in Bulgaria

On the initiative of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Bulgaria on the eve of International Women's Day in the National Library “St.St. Cyril and Methodius” photo exhibition “Women of the Great Steppe” has opened, DKNews.kz reports.

The event was attended by deputies of the National Assembly, representatives of the diplomatic corps, the creative intellectuals, the Kazakh diaspora, the Bulgarian public and media.

Opening the exhibition, Ambassador Viktor Temirbayev noted the invaluable role of women in the formation and development of the state, including in the context of ongoing large-scale reforms and transformations in the political system of Kazakhstan.

The Kazakh diplomat acquainted the gathered guests with the systematic measures of our state to expand the participation of women in the economy, politics, and public activities. In this regard, he stressed that at the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, a 30% quota for women and youth was brought in the lists of candidates of political parties in the parliamentary elections.

In turn, the Director of the National Library “St.St. Cyril and Methodius” Krasimira Alexandrova noted that the organized photo exhibition clearly demonstrates the invaluable contribution of women of Kazakhstan in building a developed state. According to her, our country is an example of responsible state behavior on the world stage.

In addition, the Dean of the diplomatic corps, Ambassador of Morocco Zakia El Midawi and Ambassador of Switzerland Raymond Furer, who attended the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition, praised Kazakhstan’s achievements in the field of gender equality, and also noted the accuracy and timeliness of the Embassy's initiative to organize this event.

The guests were presented with photographs of outstanding representatives of the Kazakh people, who at different stages of history have contributed to the development of culture, art, science, politics and sports in the country.

The photo exhibition will be open until March 20, 2024.

The National Library “St.St. Cyril and Methodius”, founded in 1879, is the largest library in Bulgaria. Currently, the library's book collection includes more than 8 million books and manuscripts.
