Kazakhstan’s Largest Multi-Location Hackathon Decentrathon 2.0 with $50,000 Prize Pool and Virtual Job Fair, DKnews.kz reports

On October 18-19, 2024, Decentrathon 2.0, Kazakhstan's largest multi-location hackathon, will gather over 2,500 developers across 17 regions to compete for a $50,000 prize pool.

Participants will tackle challenges in AI, Blockchain, GameDev, and Telegram mini apps. Additionally, a virtual job fair will offer developers the chance to connect with top companies and explore career opportunities both locally and internationally.

Organized by the Blockchain and AI Technology Center (BAITC) and Astana Hub, with support from the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, this year’s hackathon promises to be even more significant than the inaugural event. In 2023, more than 1,500 participants from nine regions took part; this year, Decentrathon 2.0 expands to 17 regions, including leading universities and tech parks, making it a truly national event.

Decentrathon 2.0 offers developers not only the chance to win significant prizes but also the opportunity to present their projects to leading industry companies, receive mentorship from IT experts, and gain valuable hands-on experience.

"Decentrathon is the first large-scale IT event spanning every region of Kazakhstan and one of the key initiatives of the Generative Nation movement this year. Our goal is to drive the AI transformation of the country. It's crucial that initiatives like this have a national scope, providing young talents across Kazakhstan with the opportunity to contribute to technological and AI development," said Zhaslan Madiyev, Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry.

"AI engineers play a pivotal role in the AI transformation of Kazakhstan. The Generative Nation movement’s initiatives are focused on developing human capital in AI, enabling them to work on projects that will not only transform our country but also have a global impact," emphasized Magzhan Madiyev, CEO of Astana Hub.

Reflecting on last year’s success, Aidana Kaskyrbek, CEO of BAITC, added: “Last year we saw the incredible potential of our participants, and this year we expect that talents from all regions of Kazakhstan will surprise us with projects again. We believe that hackathons allow us to create a cool AI community in the country."

The hackathon will take place across major cities, including Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, Karaganda, and many others, with participants expected to bring groundbreaking solutions to the forefront of Kazakhstan’s tech landscape.
