Kazakhstan is making confident strides toward the digitalization of education. At the center of attention is CodiPlay, a startup that has been highlighted by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov. This project, already recognized on the international stage, is set to be implemented in Kazakhstani schools to develop students' digital skills, DKnews.kz reports.

What is CodiPlay?

CodiPlay is a Kazakhstani startup founded in 2021 in the field of educational technology (EdTech). The project aims to develop digital literacy among students through innovative approaches to learning. The startup is valued at a record-breaking $100 million, highlighting its importance not only for Kazakhstan but also for the global educational sector.

CodiPlay has already been successfully implemented in over 450 schools worldwide, including countries like the UK, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan. Now, it is set to be widely introduced in Kazakhstan. The project has been officially approved by the National Academy of Education named after Y. Altynsarin, and one of its products, Coditeach, has been recognized by UNICEF as a Digital Public Good. This recognition opens additional opportunities for the project to enter international markets.

Importance of the Project for Kazakhstan

During a meeting at the Nazarbayev University Tech Park, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov instructed the Ministry of Education and local executive bodies to begin implementing the CodiPlay project in Kazakhstani schools. Bektenov emphasized that cutting-edge projects play a crucial role in fostering economic growth and improving the quality of life.

The project is already active in:

  • 10 countries, including South Korea and the UK;
  • 450 educational institutions globally.

In Kazakhstan, the implementation of CodiPlay will start in Turkestan Region, where 10 educational institutions are set to join the ecosystem by the end of 2024. By 2025, the program is planned to expand to an additional 60 schools, including those in Aktobe and Karaganda regions.

Goals and Objectives of CodiPlay

CodiPlay is not just about teaching students the basics of digital literacy—it prepares them for life in a digital world. As project leader Zhanadil Taldybayev noted:

"Our goal is to provide children not only with knowledge but also with skills that will help them compete successfully on the international stage" Zhanadil Taldybayev

The project offers students the opportunity to:

  1. Learn digital literacy through gamified methods.
  2. Apply acquired knowledge in practical projects.
  3. Develop programming and data analysis skills.
  4. Adapt to the challenges of digital transformation.

International Recognition and Support

CodiPlay has received high praise at the international level. UNICEF's recognition of the project as a Digital Public Good underscores its importance in the global educational community. Successfully integrating such programs in Kazakhstan will not only elevate education standards but also strengthen the country's position in the digitalization landscape.

The Future of Kazakhstani Schools

The implementation of CodiPlay in Kazakhstani schools marks a significant step in modernizing the education system. According to Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov:

"Modern technologies are the key to the development of the economy and society as a whole. We must provide the younger generation with the tools needed for a successful future" Olzhas Bektenov

The CodiPlay program will create a competitive educational environment where students not only absorb knowledge but also learn to apply it in practice.

The CodiPlay project is a significant leap forward for Kazakhstani education. It will open new horizons for students, equipping them with the tools to adapt to the challenges of the digital world. The large-scale implementation of this project will reinforce Kazakhstan's status as a country ready for innovation and development.
