China has hosted the grand opening of the Kazakhstan cultural center. For our country, this event is more than just a cultural project - it is a chance to make a bold statement and showcase the richness of national traditions to the wider world, reports DKNews.kz.

The ceremony was attended by Kazakhstan’s minister of culture and information, Aida Balayeva. In response to questions from journalist Yerkanat Kopzhasar, she explained that the idea of establishing the center first emerged back in 2022, and since then, extensive work had been carried out to bring it to life.

“We now have a great opportunity to present our culture, literature, and cinema. A comprehensive program of activities will be launched… We also tried to include national costumes. Most importantly, visitors will be able to discover our dombra and study the Kazakh language. Two classrooms have already been opened,” said the minister.

What visitors can expect

The Kazakhstan cultural center in China is set to become a space where anyone can immerse themselves in the country’s rich heritage. Among the highlights are:

  • Kazakh literature - works of renowned writers and poets;
  • Cinema - screenings of both modern and classic films;
  • National costumes - vibrant displays that reflect the spirit of the steppe;
  • The dombra - the symbol of Kazakh music, which visitors can not only hear but also try to play themselves.

Special attention has been given to the Kazakh language: two dedicated classrooms have been set up for those wishing to learn, guided by professional teachers.

Why this project matters

The opening of the center represents an important step in cultural diplomacy. It gives Kazakhstan the opportunity to share its heritage more widely, while offering Chinese audiences a closer look at the unique traditions of their neighbor.

Such initiatives strengthen not only cultural ties but also the bonds of friendship between the two nations. Observers note that interest in Kazakhstan is steadily growing in China, and the new cultural center is a direct response to this demand.

The Kazakhstan cultural center in China is a place where tradition and modernity meet - where the sound of the dombra resonates alongside the voices of literary classics, and where the Kazakh language becomes accessible to all who wish to learn it.
