Half of Kazakhstanis (51.1%) already use artificial intelligence technologies such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Midjourney, and other services.
These data were obtained during a sociological survey conducted by order of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, DKNews.kz reports.
Young people are the most active users of AI: in the 18-29 age group, the share of users reaches 76.2%. Among respondents aged 30-45, this figure stands at 57.1%. Engagement decreases with age: 37.5% in the 46-60 group and 16.6% among citizens over 61.
Young people most often turn to such digital tools for study and self-development (48.7%), as well as for working with texts (44.2%). For middle-aged users, the structure of requests is largely similar: educational and text-related tasks remain key. Among respondents over 61, priorities shift – for 40.8%, such services primarily become a source of information retrieval, often replacing traditional search engines.
Gender and socio-demographic differences also appear quite clearly. Women use digital services more often than men (54.6% versus 46.6%). Urban residents are more actively engaged with such technologies than rural residents: 53.2% versus 47.9%, which is largely due to more accessible digital infrastructure in cities.
Educational level is one of the key factors in differences in the use of digital tools. The gap between respondents with higher education (64.2%) and those with secondary education (37.7%) reaches 1.7 times, highlighting the importance of educational background for adopting new technologies. Moreover, the correlation between education level and digital competence is quite stable: the higher the level of education, the greater the readiness to incorporate modern technological solutions into everyday practices.
* The sociological survey was conducted by order of KazISS from October 3 to November 5, 2025. The sample size was 8,000 respondents. The survey included respondents aged 18 and older from 17 regions and 3 cities of national significance – Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent.
