In Athens, at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Greece, a meeting took place that could very well grow into real business projects and long-term technology partnerships in the coming years. Around the table were representatives of leading Greek innovation companies and research institutes - people who do not just follow trends, but help create them, DKNews.kz reports.

Among the participants were TheThoms, IONOS Industrial Agridrones & Smart Farming Solutions, CUBEiE, and the CERTH research center (Hellenic Institute of Transport). What unites them is a shared interest in Kazakhstan as a platform for deploying and scaling technological solutions.

This was not theory. The agenda was strictly practical:

  • AI-powered digital technologies,
  • intelligent transportation systems,
  • drones for precision agriculture,
  • decarbonization and energy efficiency.

Why Kazakhstan is attracting technology companies

Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Greece, Timur Sultangozhin, outlined the country’s priorities: digital transformation, sustainable development, modernization of the agricultural sector, and expansion of transport and logistics infrastructure.

The key message was clear - Kazakhstan is not just “open for investment”. It is deliberately building an ecosystem for the technologies of the future. Investors are offered tax and administrative incentives, special economic zones and innovation clusters - everything that shortens the distance from concept to implemented project.

For Greek companies, this is a chance to enter a growing Central Asian market with solutions that can scale far beyond one country.

Where technology meets the real economy

Agriculture stood out as a priority area. Greek companies proposed introducing drones and precision farming tools - a direct path to higher yields and lower costs.

Intelligent transportation systems and AI platforms represent another crucial pillar. They can optimize logistics, reduce congestion, improve safety and transparency - critical factors for a country that plays a key role in regional transit corridors.

Meanwhile, decarbonization and energy efficiency are no longer slogans. They are becoming powerful economic levers: fewer emissions - lower costs - stronger competitiveness.

Pilot projects are next

At the end of the meeting, both sides confirmed their mutual interest. Plans include launching pilot projects, expanding scientific and technical cooperation, implementing innovations in agriculture, and supporting the transfer of green and sustainable technologies.

If these initiatives are implemented, Kazakhstan will gain not only access to new technologies, but also valuable expertise - something you cannot simply buy off the shelf.

The roundtable in Athens was not a formality and not just a diplomatic ritual. It was a step toward building a real technology bridge between Kazakhstan and Greece, where both sides benefit: businesses get new markets and partners, and the country gains solutions, investment and qualitative growth.
