In Thailand, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador Margulan Baimukhan held meetings with Chonburi Governor Nirut Phongsittithawon and Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet. Officials responsible for economic, educational, cultural and tourism sectors also took part, DKNews.kz reports.

What the talks focused on

The Ambassador briefed the Thai side on the political and socio-economic reforms being implemented in Kazakhstan at the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The discussions also covered:

  • the current state of bilateral relations
  • trade and economic cooperation
  • investment prospects between Kazakhstan and Thailand

The Thai side, in turn, presented the potential of Chonburi province and the city of Pattaya.

What Chonburi and Pattaya offer

The regions are prioritizing:

  • industrial development
  • transport and logistics infrastructure
  • tourism and urban development

The Mayor of Pattaya highlighted priorities such as:

  • attracting foreign tourists
  • developing the hotel industry
  • building direct business links with Kazakhstan

The Governor of Chonburi noted that the province is part of Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor. Key sectors include:

  • automotive components
  • agro-industrial production
  • high value-added goods
  • modern logistics

Special attention was given to the expansion of U-Tapao International Airport and the development of Laem Chabang Port — Thailand’s largest and one of its most strategic deep-sea ports.

Today, Chonburi hosts more than 4,000 manufacturing enterprises and 12 industrial zones focused on export. Expansion of Laem Chabang is planned to be completed by 2028, and Kazakh companies were invited to join joint projects.

Digital opportunities and new areas

The Ambassador invited the leadership of Chonburi and Pattaya to visit Kazakhstan with a business delegation.

He also emphasized Kazakhstan’s strong progress in digitalization and proposed cooperation in:

  • artificial intelligence
  • digital services
  • smart-city solutions

This cooperation is supported by an existing Memorandum of Understanding on digitalization between Kazakhstan and Thailand.

What’s next

Both sides agreed to maintain direct communication between the Embassy of Kazakhstan and Thai regions in order to promote concrete mutually beneficial projects.

Kazakhstan and Thailand are moving their partnership to a new level — from logistics and investment to tourism and digital innovation.
