Nestlé Food Kazakhstan has announced a voluntary recall of a limited number of baby food products sold in the country. The recall covers selected batches of instant milk and fermented-milk formulas, as well as an amino acid-based medical nutrition formula, DKNews.kz reports.
The full list of affected batches is available on nestlebaby.kz, where parents can check their products.
Why is the product being recalled?
The recall is part of a global precautionary program by Nestlé. During internal assessments, a potential risk of cereulide toxin was identified in a raw material (arachidonic acid) supplied by an external partner.
Key points:
- this is a potential risk, not confirmed poisoning cases
- the ingredient is present in minimal amounts
- Kazakhstan does not currently set limits for cereulide levels in foods
Still, Nestlé chose to act out of caution. From January 5, 2026, the company began recalling limited batches.
A precautionary measure
Nestlé says the decision aligns with its strict quality and safety protocols. The company has:
- notified the regulator
- committed to providing full information to consumers and partners
- begun organizing product returns
Consumers who purchased affected batches will be able to return them. Details will be published on nestlebaby.kz.
For assistance, a 24/7 hotline is available: 8 800 080 55 44
What is not affected?
Nestlé emphasizes:
- only specific limited batches are covered
- other batches and other Nestlé baby foods in Kazakhstan are not affected
So there’s no need to throw away all products — check the batch number first.
Stay calm, but stay aware
Product recalls happen regularly in global markets. Companies prefer to remove even potentially risky products before issues arise.
For parents, the steps are simple:
- check the batch number
- return the product if it’s on the list
- contact support if you have questions
