Kazakhstan and Malaysia Explore New Opportunities in Higher Education Cooperation

The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Malaysia, Bulat Sugurbaev, held a meeting with Assylbek Kozhakhmetov, President and Founder of Almaty Management University (AlmaU), to discuss the future of cooperation in the field of higher education between the two countries, DKNews.kz reports.

During the meeting, the parties focused on the prospects for establishing and expanding partnerships between Kazakh and Malaysian universities. Particular attention was paid to academic exchange programs, the launch of joint educational initiatives, and the development of cooperation in managerial and applied education, areas seen as increasingly important in today’s global economy.

Practice-oriented education as a shared priority

Ambassador Sugurbaev emphasized the importance of strengthening educational ties with Malaysia, noting the high potential of Malaysian universities and their practice-oriented approach to human capital development. According to him, closer cooperation in education can play a key role in preparing competitive specialists and fostering long-term people-to-people connections between the two countries.

AlmaU’s international profile

In turn, Assylbek Kozhakhmetov shared AlmaU’s achievements, highlighting that the university is recognized as one of the leading institutions in the CIS for MBA programs and management education. He expressed AlmaU’s readiness to build long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation with Malaysian higher education institutions, particularly in areas related to leadership training and applied business education.

Kozhakhmetov also подчеркнул that AlmaU actively participates in major international educational events, consistently promoting its academic and expert agenda within the global professional community.

Upcoming conference in Kuala Lumpur

As part of this international engagement, Kozhakhmetov announced his upcoming participation as a speaker at the IAUP Asia Pacific Regional Conference, which will take place in Kuala Lumpur from January 12 to 14. The conference is expected to bring together leading representatives of universities and academic organizations from across the Asia-Pacific region.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed interest in continuing dialogue and further developing concrete initiatives aimed at strengthening educational cooperation between Kazakhstan and Malaysia.
