On 13 January 2026, Vienna once again became a key venue for high-level international dialogue as the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, met with H.E. Feridun H. Sinirlioğlu, Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). The meeting took place at the OSCE Hofburg, one of Europe’s most symbolic diplomatic locations, DKNews.kz reports.

The talks focused on issues that are increasingly shaping the future of Eurasia - regional connectivity, economic cooperation, and the role of multilateral dialogue in maintaining stability and trust amid global uncertainty.

Against the backdrop of shifting trade routes and growing demand for reliable transport and logistics corridors, both sides emphasized the strategic importance of cooperation across regions. Connectivity today is no longer just about infrastructure, but about economic resilience, political dialogue, and sustainable development.

During the meeting, Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev underlined the OTS’s long-term strategic focus on strengthening transport and economic connectivity. He noted that the Organization of Turkic States is steadily positioning itself as an active contributor to regional cooperation across Eurasia, working to turn shared geography into shared opportunity.

In recent years, the Turkic region has gained increasing attention as a bridge between East and West. Developing efficient transport routes, facilitating trade, and deepening economic ties are becoming central priorities not only for OTS member states, but also for their international partners.

The discussion also highlighted the importance of multilateral dialogue in fostering stability and trust. In an era of geopolitical turbulence, platforms that encourage cooperation and mutual understanding are seen as essential tools for addressing common challenges and ensuring long-term sustainability.

A separate focus of the meeting was placed on opportunities to strengthen institutional cooperation between the OTS and the OSCE. The parties explored potential areas of collaboration based on mutual interest, including connectivity, economic development, and regional stability.

Observers note that the Vienna meeting reflects the growing international profile of the Organization of Turkic States and its intention to engage more actively with major European institutions. For the OSCE, dialogue with emerging regional organizations offers a chance to broaden cooperation frameworks and support inclusive approaches to security and development.

Historically a crossroads between cultures and political traditions, Vienna once again served as a platform where East and West met to discuss the future of Eurasian cooperation - a reminder that dialogue remains one of the most powerful tools in an increasingly complex world.
