A meeting with entrepreneurs was held at the Chamber of Entrepreneurs of East Kazakhstan Region to explain the situation surrounding the voluntary recall of certain baby food products by Nestlé Food Kazakhstan LLPDKNews.kz reports.

The discussion aimed to provide businesses with clear and timely information, outline the reasons for the recall, clarify its scope, and explain the procedure for further actions.

Why Nestlé Is Recalling the Products

According to the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of East Kazakhstan Region, the voluntary recall began on January 5, 2026, and affects several markets, including the Republic of Kazakhstan.

“This is a preventive measure related to the identification of a potential risk of the possible presence of the toxin cereulide in raw materials supplied by an external supplier,” the department reported.

Officials emphasized that the amount of the substance in the products is minimal, and that Kazakhstan’s current legislation does not establish regulatory limits for cereulide toxin content in food products. Despite this, Nestlé decided to recall the products as a precautionary step.

Which Products Are Affected

The recall applies to a limited range of products, including:

  • dry instant milk, fermented milk, and lactose-free formulas;
  • dry amino acid-based formulas intended for medical and dietary nutrition.

The list of specific affected batches has been published on the official website nestlebaby.kz. Importantly, only these batches are subject to the recall. All other Nestlé baby food products available in Kazakhstan remain on sale and are considered safe.

What This Means for Businesses

Deputy Director of the East Kazakhstan Chamber of Entrepreneurs for Legal Affairs Aizhan Zhangirkhanova noted that the Chamber served as a platform for open and transparent communication between businesses and authorities.

“For entrepreneurs, it is critically important to receive official and reliable information directly from authorized bodies. In this case, we are talking about a voluntary product recall carried out as part of the company’s corporate responsibility, not as a result of identified violations. Our task is to explain the legal aspects and eliminate any concerns,” she said.

The Chamber also confirmed that entrepreneurs can seek additional consultations regarding legal and procedural issues related to the recall.

No Cause for Alarm

Participants of the meeting agreed that the situation does not require panic. The recall is a preventive measure, demonstrating a responsible approach by the manufacturer aimed at minimizing potential risks.

Consumers and businesses are advised to rely on official information sources and to verify product batches using the published lists.
