Kazakhstan has received a high-profile international proposal. US President Donald Trump has officially invited President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to join the newly established Gaza Peace Council and offered Kazakhstan the status of a founding member state of the new international body, DKNews.kz reports.
The information was confirmed by Ruslan Zheldibay, aide and press secretary to the President of Kazakhstan. He stressed that such an official appeal from the US president could not be ignored or kept confidential, especially amid recent statements by global leaders on the situation in the Middle East.
“Yes, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was among the first world leaders to receive an official invitation to join the Peace Council, with Kazakhstan being offered the status of a founding state,” Zheldibay said.
Tokayev responds and confirms Kazakhstan’s readiness
President Tokayev has already sent a response letter to Donald Trump, expressing sincere gratitude for the trust shown and confirming Kazakhstan’s agreement to join the Gaza Peace Council.
In his reply, the Kazakh leader emphasized the country’s readiness to contribute to strengthening trust between states, stabilizing the situation, and achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.
Tokayev also reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to promoting global stability and international security through dialogue, neutrality, and peaceful conflict resolution.
What is the Gaza Peace Council?
The Gaza Peace Council is being created as an international body tasked with overseeing the post-conflict recovery and governance of the Gaza Strip. Its mandate is expected to include coordination of humanitarian assistance, reconstruction of infrastructure, and the establishment of sustainable administrative mechanisms in the region.
The proposed founding member status would allow Kazakhstan to participate directly in shaping the Council’s mandate, principles, and strategic decisions, significantly elevating the country’s role in global diplomacy.
Kazakhstan’s growing role on the global stage
Experts view the invitation as recognition of Kazakhstan’s consistent foreign policy and President Tokayev’s personal authority on the international stage.
In recent years, Kazakhstan has repeatedly positioned itself as a platform for dialogue and a mediator in complex international issues, strengthening its reputation as a balanced and reliable partner.
Participation in the Gaza Peace Council could become another important step in reinforcing Kazakhstan’s image as a state capable of contributing to the resolution of some of the world’s most challenging geopolitical crises.
