TurkPA Voices Support for Kazakhstan’s Constitutional Reforms

Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TurkPA) Ramil Hasan paid a visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Azerbaijan. During the meeting, the sides discussed key political developments in Kazakhstan, as well as prospects for strengthening interparliamentary cooperation within the Turkic world, DKNews.kz reports.

Kazakhstan reaffirms support for TurkPA

Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Alim Bayel, emphasized that Astana attaches great importance to TurkPA’s activities and intends to continue providing comprehensive support to the organization. According to him, the Assembly serves as an important platform for dialogue among the parliaments of Turkic states and for shaping coordinated approaches to regional development.

The Ambassador congratulated Ramil Hasan once again on assuming the post of Secretary General and expressed confidence that his appointment would further enhance TurkPA’s work and make it more results-oriented. He also briefed his counterpart on the constitutional reform currently being prepared in Kazakhstan.

Support for constitutional changes

In response, Ramil Hasan expressed support for the constitutional reforms being implemented in Kazakhstan at the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. He paid particular attention to the transformation of the parliamentary system, noting its importance for strengthening democratic institutions and improving the effectiveness of public governance.

The Secretary General stressed that these reforms are aimed at reinforcing the role of representative bodies and ensuring a more balanced and sustainable political system.

Official statement by the Assembly

Following the meeting, TurkPA issued an official statement on the constitutional reforms in Kazakhstan. In the document, the Assembly highly praised President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s initiatives aimed at strengthening the institutional foundations of the state, improving governance efficiency, and developing representative institutions.

TurkPA also underscored its support for the ongoing reforms, Kazakhstan’s balanced approach to domestic and foreign policy, and the country’s strategic role in the Turkic world. The Assembly reaffirmed its readiness to continue exchanging experience and coordinating efforts in the interests of sustainable development and the well-being of the peoples of the Turkic states.
