On January 21, 2026, a meeting took place at the World Horti Center between the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Netherlands, Akan Rakhmetullin, and representatives of Dutch Greenhouse Delta, led by CEO Mirjam Boekestijn. The talks focused on expanding cooperation in agriculture and the agro-industrial sector, with a strong emphasis on technology and sustainable development, DKNews.kz reports.
From Dialogue to Practical Results
During the discussions, both sides positively noted the dynamic growth of bilateral cooperation in recent years. Particular attention was given to the outcomes of business delegation visits organized over the past five years. These exchanges, participants stressed, have played a key role in building direct partnerships between companies and sectoral institutions in Kazakhstan and the Netherlands.
Such cooperation has helped move beyond dialogue toward practical solutions, especially in greenhouse production, agrotechnologies, and modern farming practices.
Grow Expo Astana and GreenTech Amsterdam in Focus
A separate part of the meeting was devoted to preparations for upcoming international industry events. The parties discussed:
- the visit of a Dutch business delegation to Grow Expo Astana 2026, and
- the formation of a program for a Kazakh business delegation to participate in the GreenTech Amsterdam forum, one of the world’s leading platforms for greenhouse technologies.
Both sides confirmed their mutual interest in ensuring strong business representation and a substantive agenda focused on real projects, innovation, and technology transfer.

Sustainable Agriculture and Modern Technologies
Participants also exchanged views on current trends in agricultural cooperation, highlighting the importance of:
- deepening bilateral interaction,
- expanding the exchange of practical expertise,
- developing joint recommendations for sustainable agricultural development.
Special attention was paid to the introduction of modern greenhouse solutions and advanced agrotechnologies, an area where Dutch experience is considered particularly valuable for Kazakhstan, especially in the context of climate challenges and food security.
Partnership Set to Continue
Following the meeting, both sides expressed readiness to maintain close coordination and active dialogue to further expand the Kazakhstan–Netherlands partnership in the agricultural sector.
Experts note that such cooperation supports Kazakhstan’s efforts to modernize its agro-industrial complex and strengthens the country’s position as a promising player in high-tech and sustainable agriculture.
