President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has sent a message to Israeli President Isaac Herzog to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day, reaffirming Kazakhstan’s respect for the memory of the millions of innocent people who lost their lives during the Holocaust, DKNews.kz reports.
In his message, President Tokayev stressed that the Holocaust remains one of the gravest tragedies in human history and a powerful reminder of the consequences of hatred, intolerance, and violence.
He подчеркнул that Kazakhstan strongly condemns all forms of ethnic and religious hatred and fully supports the international community’s efforts to prevent crimes against humanity from ever being repeated.
While firmly rejecting any incitement to ethnic or religious animosity and violence, Kazakhstan stands in full solidarity with the global community to ensure that such atrocities never happen again, the message said.
President Tokayev also recalled that during the Holocaust and World War II, Kazakhstan became a safe haven for many Jewish families who were evacuated from war-affected regions. For thousands of people, the country provided shelter and a chance to rebuild their lives.
Today, the Jewish community is an integral part of Kazakhstan’s diverse society, contributing to its cultural, social, and public life. According to the President, this reflects Kazakhstan’s long-standing commitment to tolerance, interfaith dialogue, and peaceful coexistence.
International Holocaust Remembrance Day is observed annually on January 27, commemorating the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. The day serves as a global call to preserve historical memory and to stand firmly against hatred and discrimination in all their forms.
President Tokayev’s message highlights Kazakhstan’s dedication to human dignity, mutual respect, and shared responsibility for the future.
